Mom Thief

I am a mom thief. Before you go hiding your purse and unfollowing me hear (read) me out. I don't go around stealing people's things, but yet I steal other mom's parenting styles. I would like to stay that I am an observant person, but let's be honest I AM NOSEY! I love to watch other moms in action, and if they do something cool I think to myself, "I am going to steal that for myself."

I started that years ago before I was ever a mom. I heard that Tupac's Mom, Afeni Shakur, would make Pac read the New York Times when he got into trouble. I thought to myself this is genius! Pac's vocabulary and how he was so enlightened made this a no brainer for me. However, after becoming a mom I read an article about how not to make your kids read for punishment because they then grow up to hate reading. Now, what am I to do? Well, I still make him read I just make him find articles about what he did wrong and why it is wrong.

I have stolen other ideas from moms that I actually know. For example, Myles' friend went with us last spring break and his mom pack little individual bags inside of a big bag with a whole outfit in one bag. Myles travels a lot without me to my parents and to my brother's house for weeks at a time, so guess what, next time he goes on an extended trip I will pack like this for him. I have gotten several ideas from my sisters-in-law over the years.

Why do I do this? Well, because being nosey has benefits and I am using mine. Some times it may not work out the way I planned, and that is ok too. What works well for other's may not work out for you as much. In this thing call motherhood, we need all the help we can get so I take it where I can hence how I became a mom thief.
