I know I know; why in the heckle and jeckle is the name of this blog, "Manure". Trust me I am going somewhere, just stay the course with me. Do you know that saying, "The grass isn't always greener on the other side?" Well, I asked myself why would one think the grass is greener on the other side? This is what I came up with, stay focused (in my Tabitha Brown voice). It is easy to think the grass is greener on the other side when you are sitting in a yard full of manure. Let's be honest: manure is shit! When you feel like your life is full of shit, it's easy to look over the fence at your neighbor's yard and see their lush green grass and easily want their life instead. There's just one thing missing. You hadn't moved in yet to see when their yard too was full of manure.
For all my non-country people let me break it down for you. Manure is commonly used as fertilizer for farmers, gardeners, and landscapers. The manure provides nutrients for the crops that they are trying to grow. Manure has so much value when you are trying to grow something. However, manure is still manure, it stinks and I am sure is messy. (I am country, but not that country) So if one was sitting in a yard full of manure it is not a pleasant place to be sitting in. Here's one thing I can assure you that yes it stinks, and it is hard to see what is coming, but stay the course.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side because yours isn't finished developing yet. If you don't take anything else away from this blog take this in every no there's room to grow. For me, it is easy to look at the people I want to fashion my career after and think I can never get to that point. However, that's not true I am just sitting in my yard of manure right now. They have already gone through this process. People often say don't compare the start of your journey to somebody else's middle. Honestly, you may not even know what stage they are in their journey just enjoy yours, even the stinky part.
If looking at someone else's grass isn't quite something you do that understandable, but sometimes it hard to see the clear picture when you are just standing in your own yard of manure. You can't get past what you presently see. I know that feeling all too well too. Stay the course keeping watering, count your small wins as one blade of grass growing at a time. Eventually, you will have a yard full of lush green grass.
Much Love,
D'Que
