Jam Sessions

When I was a kid we drove all across the country, so car rides are important to me. I love long trips because I feel like I have the best conversations. Short trips are not so much my favorite. The kids are whiny at times, and a car ride home from the grocery store can feel like an eternity. However, we also have a lot of magically short car rides home. Lately, we play pick your favorite song. Everyone gets to pick a song one by one. Even when it's not your pick you must jam out to it like it's your favorite song. The volume is on max. So you may see us at a red light and we are bumping 5 little monkey's, which is almost always one of Mayson's picks, and we are "turnt up" like we are listening to something off of the Billboards Top 20. Everyone keeps picking a song in rotation until we pull into the driveway, and no one can get out until the current song playing is finished. Why am I telling you about these jam sessions? Welp, because they make my life easier, and two because music is good for the soul. So my 9-year-old is not whiny anymore. Thankfully we're past those times, but it helps us feel connected. I always get to listen to what he's listening too. I also get to expose him to some good music. I found out my 3-year-old had been singing peanut butter jelly time at daycare a few times (take that how you want). That means those times really matter to him too. Myles has even said that people have been recording us on our way home at times. If you see these videos on social media make sure you tag us lol. Music is a feel-good medicine use it at your leisure for those hard times. DQue
