Dining With Tots

A few years back we were sitting at a restaurant and Mayson was probably about 2 or 3 years old. He was climbing on the back of the booth and waving at the people behind us. At that moment I knew that kid was an extrovert. He was all over the place. I told Myon after that dinner I didn’t want to physically go out to eat until he was a little older. Well I had no idea Melody would be joining our crew, and eating out with a newborn while you’re breastfeeding is a whole different ball game for me. Also, that would mean another 4 years without physically dining out 😫 as a family. Although Myon and I did frequent date nights, grabbing food to out at our favorite restaurants just wasn’t the same. So every now and again we slowly begin drifting back to the dining out scene. Then the pandemic hit. We were used to grabbing food to go because we’ve literally been doing this since May was 2 years old. Other people’s new norms had been our norm for awhile. Well Melody is a lot more rambunctious than Mayson so I didn’t see us eating out any time in the near future. Well, Myles birthday rolled around and again the numbers in Texas are high enough to say no party. Myon had to work so I decided that I would put on my big girl panties and take my 3 kids out to eat by myself. Mayson has calmed down a lot so I didn’t worry so much about him. Other than the fight of who was going to sit on which side of the table it was quite peaceful. Melody didn’t start waving at the lady behind us til the end of dinner and actually stay pretty quiet. There was a time I would have never attempted such a task, but now I’m facing anxiety face on, and it’s not so bad. My kids were never the kids that were screaming in a restaurant they are just busy bodies, but what kid isn’t? Some times we just need to take a step back away from things to see that they actually aren’t all that bad. Is there something in your life you may need to take a step away from to get a clearer view?
